The new corona pandemic has caused the world to experience lockdowns, state of emergency declarations, and limitation in movements.

Essential workers such as health care workers, caregivers, delivery companies, and those who are involved in logistics are at high risk due to their constant exposure.

The government and public transport operators have taken several measures. Each EPD Room Sign is connected to a server via LTE. It can be linked with a reservation management system to display the current room status in real-time. Also, content management is easy because you can either update it all together or individually.

Energy cost reduction
Since EPD does not require power except when changing the displayed content, it is possible to maintain the contents displayed on the EPD without power consumption until there is a need to change the display. Unlike LCDs, displaying content the whole day requires power.

Emergency Support
Room signs displayed contents are usually room status, lecture content, reservation status, etc. But in case of an emergency, it is possible to display earthquake early warnings and weather conditions.

No major construction required
Since it is thin and lightweight, it can be hung on a wall and can be operated by a battery. It will not require large-scale construction.

The definition of a Demand Bus is where the bus alters their routes based on the call of the user rather than using a fixed timetable or routes.

This is how the Demand Bus works:

  1. Fixed route type ⇒ Like fixed-route buses and community buses, you can get on and off at specified bus stops, but with the Demand Bus, it operates when there is a reservation.
  2. Detour route/area demand-type ⇒ Frequently operates a fixed route but operates to detour to other bus stops according to the passengers’ reservation.
  3. Free route meeting point types ⇒ Operates the shortest route between bus stops, according to the reservation, without setting a specific route.
  4. Free route door-to-door type ⇒ An operation style that goes around the reserved places in the designated area without establishing fixed routes or bus stops.

STEP 3 : Once the bus driver confirms, bus information will be displayed in the EPD/LCD.

Do you find it difficult to see the road information board?

There are two reasons why using LCD as guide boards is difficult to see. First, the natural light is too bright. And Second, the screen of the information board itself is too dark.

EPD Road Information

Most highway service areas are outdoors. And during the daytime, to improve the visibility of the LCD screen in a place where sunlight shines, high brightness of 1500 cd or more is required. Also, LCDs require power, so heat treatment measures are also necessary. It will require a cooling device such as a fan, making power consumption even greater.

In this case, it is effective to use EPD (Electronic Paper Display). EPD has the same contrast and reflectivity as paper, so the more light there is, the more visible it becomes. It is also possible to read even at night.

EPD does not require power when displaying content. It uses power only when the content needs to be changed. Unlike LCD, it does not require power 24/7. Also, since the backlight is not required, the power consumption can be kept very low.

The EPD can be solar-powered or battery-powered. It is very convenient to be placed where the power supply is difficult. Also, no major installation is required.
